Great sushi off of 23rd! I actually first visited a few years ago--the sushi was great and the service was friendly. The interior is pretty cute, though you may have a bit of a wait for parties over 6 since it is a bit small.
A friend and I were around the area on Memorial Day and craved sushi but didn't think we had enough time to dine in. The restaurant was about 50-60% full, with a few families. As we came in, we were quickly helped and handed menus. We ended up ordering two spicy tuna rolls and one seared salmon nigiri so we assumed we'd be out pretty quick. Instead, we waited over 30 minutes for our food, and customers dining in who came in about 10-15 minutes into our wait received their food before us.
Besides the iffy wait, the sushi was well-made and had great quality fish. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit Mio but if I'm ever in the area and in the mood for sushi, I'd stop by. If I were to get take-out again, I'll call ahead. -

I really appreciate Mio Sushi because they use quality fish at reasonable prices. The sushi always tastes fresh and good. I typically order the tuna roll and the Rainbow roll without cucumbers. But today, I should have specified without cucumbers and PLASTIC. Yep, there was plastic wrap in my Rainbow roll.
I pointed this out to the server and her response was to say that the chef uses plastic wrap to make the sushi. Uhhh okay, I'm not a sushi chef, but I don't think it's supposed to be inside the roll at the end. I replied, that the plastic was inside the roll and the chef needs to be more careful. The response should have been "I'm sorry" not a defense of the plastic being inside my food. I even tried to be discreet about it because other diners were close to me and I genuinely like Mio Sushi.
That all disappointed me, but then I thought maybe they'd make it right by reducing my bill, or maybe the chef would come to apologize, or something. Nope, I was charged full price and no apology. I don't mind paying for my meal, BUT THERE WAS PLASTIC WRAP IN IT and they did nothing to make the situation better.
This location always tempts me because I both live and work in the area, but now I won't be so tempted to go here at least.
UPDATE: Mio Sushi contacted me regarding my experience. The head server was very apologetic and wished to make things right. I greatly appreciated that her response included specific actions the restaurant is taking to improve, including bringing in someone to retrain the chefs to avoid future mistakes, and speaking with floor staff to improve customer service, specifically, not making excuses moving forward. I understand no one is perfect at their job, and how mistakes are handled is important to me. I am willing to give this location of Mio Sushi another chance. -

Solid, friendly sushi place in a cute house with a few outdoor tables. Not every dish is a hit (seaweed salad is not good IMO), but there is enough here to get some delicious rolls and decent nigiri at a decent price.

I have gone to Mio Sushi since 2015. They have an amazing location if you live near 23rd, good prices, gracious service, no parking and an ok atmosphere. More of a lunch/casual dinner place with good value than an elegant and pricy sushi place. We prefer it to Bamboo which is really expensive but is more sustainable. How could it improve? a better softer and more intimate interior design, better car/bike access and offering some sustainable options as a menu choice.

First time trying sushi out of California and it was not fun:( I had a salad to start and the dressing was flavorless. I had two half rolls and they were not my favorite, they didn't taste too fresh.
